About Sui (SUI)

Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain platform developed by Mysten Labs, designed to offer high scalability and low latency for decentralized applications. Its unique object-centric architecture enables parallel transaction processing, allowing the network to handle multiple transactions simultaneously, which significantly enhances throughput and reduces confirmation times.

The platform utilizes the Move programming language, originally developed for the Diem project, to write smart contracts. Move emphasizes security and flexibility, enabling developers to create robust and efficient decentralized applications.

Sui employs a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, where validators' voting power is determined by the amount of stake delegated to them by SUI token holders. This approach not only ensures network security but also incentivizes active participation from the community.

Since its mainnet launch in May 2023, Sui has experienced rapid growth, with its ecosystem encompassing a wide range of projects in decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The platform's innovative features, such as zkLogin—which allows users to log in using existing Web2 credentials—have contributed to its appeal among developers and users alike.

In summary, Sui stands out in the blockchain landscape due to its high performance, developer-friendly environment, and commitment to enhancing user experience, making it a compelling choice for building and deploying decentralized applications.

What makes Sui special?

  • Built for Speed: The object-centric design of Sui, combined with the Move programming language, offers parallel transaction processing, thus enabling a number of transactions to be processed simultaneously and adding up to unparalleled performance and scaling.
  • Uncompromised Security: Sui is focused on security along all vectors. The pioneering Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture optimizes transaction flow and consensus, while the robust Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) mechanism makes sure the network is intact and resistant to any potential attack.
  • Privacy and User Experience: Sui leverages Zero-Knowledge Proofs technology to enhance privacy and user experiences. Such proofs allow users to prove certain information without necessarily revealing the underlying data that enables secure authentication. This is great for new Web3 users, because onboarding is made very simple, and it removes all the complexities related to managing cryptographic keys.
  • Developer-Friendly: Sui Move programming language is designed with both security and a quality developer experience in mind. Intuitive syntax with built-in safety allows developers to focus on building innovative, decentralized applications. By design, Move focuses on resource scarcity and access control, reducing most vulnerabilities and making Sui much more secure.
  • Sustainable Ecosystem: Sui has a Storage Fund that redistributes the storage fees to validators in the future. This is an innovative mechanism that makes the network economically stable and sustainable in the long term, thereby creating an enabling ecosystem for all participants.

Staking: The Gateway to Sui's Potential

Staking is a way for you to become an active member of the Sui network. By staking your SUI tokens with DAIC Capital, you contribute to the security of the network while gaining rewards in return.

Gas Fee: Pays for network operations.

Staking: Secure the network and earn rewards.

Liquidity: Used in DeFi protocols.

Governance: Vote on proposals.

Storage Fund:

Compensates for data storage.

What is the minimum amount to stake SUI?

You can stake as low as 1 SUI.

What is the reward for staking SUI?

The estimated APR when staking SUI is around 3.25%. Rewards vary depending on the validator's performance, commission rate and network inflation conditions.

How often are rewards paid?

Rewards are accrued every epoch, which is every 24 hours, and can be viewed in your wallet.

When can I start earning rewards with SUI?

Immediately, as soon as your SUI gets delegated to a validator, you begin to earn rewards.

What is Unbonding Period?

Unbonding period, also known as cool-down period, is the amount of time it takes to unstake your staked assets. The unbonding period for SUI staking is usually 24hrs, corresponding with the epoch time.

Can I withdraw my staked SUI at any time?

You can start a withdrawal at any time, but your SUI will take 24 hours to become available.

Can I sell SUI while it is locked up?

No, you would need to unstake your SUI before that.

What are the risks associated with staking SUI?

  • Market Volatility: The value of SUI can increase or decrease.
  • Validator Performance: Low-performing validators will result in a lower reward.
  • Unbonding Risk: You cannot sell your staked SUI immediately because, after unstaking you would need to wait 24 hours.
  • Protocol Security Risks: There could be some unknown bugs in the protocol.

Do I need to maintain my staking somehow?

Yes, it is recommended to:

  • Periodically check the performance of your validator and his commission.
  • Claim and restake your rewards to optimize returns - consider gas fees.
